Bio of Principal
Erika Putnam Chin

Erika Putnam Chin is the Executive Director of Chin Compensation & Performance LLC, founded in 2006. A Human Resources practitioner in corporate settings and with a major global management consulting firm for over 20 years, Erika specializes in strategic design and tactical implementation of compensation and performance management programs. Her experience includes both corporate and consulting assignments in the life sciences, technology, financial services, insurance and consumer products industry sectors.

Experience

Erika led the global compensation function at Millipore Corporation, where she was hired to manage the redesign of a global performance management and compensation system. Major projects included total redesign of the company's base pay, bonus and equity programs for over 30 countries.

Additionally, Erika was a Corporate Compensation Manager at Polaroid Corporation where she led the development of global salary structures, competitive analyses and incentive plans.

At Watson Wyatt, Erika consulted to a variety of cross-industry clients to develop competitive analyses, salary structures, and merit-based salary management tools.

Prior to this, Erika was a Vice President of Compensation at Fleet Financial Group, responsible for managing the development and execution of compensation and related performance management programs for consumer banking and technology employees in multiple subsidiaries.

Erika’s background also includes twelve years of progressively responsible human resources generalist and compensation experience at Wang Laboratories, Inc.

Education and Affiliations

Erika holds a B.S. in Human Development from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a M.Ed. in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy from Harvard University. Erika is a Certified Compensation Practitioner and member of the American Compensation Association (now WorldatWork). Additionally, Erika has 19 years of experience as a WorldatWork faculty member, and has served on the Board of the New England Compensation Consortium and SBANE’s Human Capital Committee.
